New bespoke ayurveda destination to open in the rice fields of Bali

12 May 2016
A new fully-dedicated ayurveda resort is set to open in the rice field terraces near Ubud, Bali, this August. Oneworld Ayurveda is a 12-room retreat centre dedicated to Panchakarma, or PK, and created by Oneworld retreats, a yoga retreat destination in Bali.

Oneworld Ayurveda will feature tailor-made programmes, beginning with a doctor’s consultation, which are then supervised and adjusted in daily consultations designed for optimal results. Stays will last between seven and 28 days.

"The benefits are remarkable," said Claude Chouinard, founder of the project. "Doing a PK is offering the self me-time at a deeper level. It is a gift that our body, mind and soul deserve once in a while and allows rejuvenation."

The team is headed by Dr Aparna K Bams, who holds a PhD in ayurveda and grew up in a family that operated a traditional ayurvedic panchakarma hospital in Kerala, India.

The location features bamboo forests, tropical gardens and permaculture herbal gardens. The retreat will include daily food preparation classes, plus a yoga and meditation shala overlooking the rice terraces.
