HD Hotels to launch new Essentia Wellness Connect concept at its Canarian properties

28 Jul 2025
Four-star hotel group HD Hotels will launch an integrated wellness concept at its HD Lobos Natura Fuerteventura hotel in Las Palmas, in the Canary Islands, before rolling it out to the rest of its properties.

The 261-key property, which is located in Corralejo with access to beaches overlooking the Lobos Natural Park, is currently undergoing renovation and will open in Q1 2026.

Guests will be able to choose a wellness journey under the group’s new wellness concept HD Essentia Wellness Connect.

The concept has been created by spa and wellness consultants Susana Melchor and Fran Lugo, in collaboration with architects Requena y Plaza.

Melchor told Spa Business, “Each letter of Essentia represents one of the Canary Islands and each of HD Hotel’s wellness facilities will be inspired by its location, ecosystem and history.”

Guests will be able to connect to themselves and the surrounding environment, providing HD customers with a new and more luxurious experience than they have had access to before at the all-inclusive property.

There will be three main elements to the brand’s offering, including an inclusive programme of activities and treatments, access to the HD Essentia Wellness Spa and holistic wellness activities across the resort.

The inclusive programme will offer three tailored menus of experiences that are inspired by the biodiversity of the Atlantic Ocean and the volcanic island facing the small island of Lobos:

• Alisios Restored – This programme will include calming activities and therapies to create balance and restorative sleep.

• Lava Renewed Detox – Guests can take part in experiences for detoxification, emotional cleansing and physical renewal.

• Ocean Revitalisation – This programme includes mentally and physically energising adventures and treatments.

HD Essentia Wellness Spa

Central to the new brand’s concept is the creation of a spa that has been inspired by the landscape and offers a sensorial sanctuary.

The spa will have seven themed treatment rooms, including a double, a VIP suite and outdoor options. Each room is inspired by the island’s flora and fauna. For example, one is called el guirre, after a native bird.

There will also be an indoor-outdoor hydrotherapy circuit with a sauna, hammam, sensory showers and hot tub.

It will also have a solarium a Zen lounge and a beauty salon.

In a separate relaxation area, Gharieni Group's RLX Satori and Welnamis touchless technlogies offer wellness treatments.

Melchor said that the concept is about providing something accessible, sustainable and unforgettable. “HD Essentia was born from respect for the environment. We have used local materials, energy efficiency and a design that embraces the landscape, rather than intrudes on it. Anyone, regardless of ability, can enjoy this experience that’s designed to connect guests with the volcanic and spiritual essence of Fuerteventura.”

Skincare partners include Skeyndor and the HD own-brand product range called Blue Silk.

In terms of programming, seasonal wellness festivals will take place, offering themed retreats.

Other activities

The hotel will offer daily classes such as sunrise yoga, tai chi, meditation and sound healing in addition to on-demand fitness sessions and personalised rituals.

There is also an outdoor gym for functional training, Crossfit, zumba, boxing and spin classes.

A multi-modal sports court offers football, volleyball and basketball. There’s also a padel court.

The property has four pools, including saltwater and heated options, as well as a splash park for children. Surfing is also possible nearby.

HD Hotels

HD Hotels is the hospitality arm of a Canarian company, Grupo HD, which is part of real estate company Yudaya SL.

In the late 1940s the Domínguez family set up a small oil and vinegar shop when the area became a popular port. The family established a supermarket in the 1970s and then in the 80s developed the island’s chain of HiperDino supermarkets.

Tourism and an increasing number of imports led the company to diversify into real estate under the Yudaya name. After selling the supermarket chain, it focused on the hotel sector in the 90s and then started operating the properties itself under the Grupo HD company.

The company bought back the HiperDino supermarket chain, operating as Dinosol after the financial crash. Grupo HD has now diversified into real estate management in other commercial spaces and residential developments.

Grupo HD is seeking to increase its hotel portfolio. It’s existing properties include:

• HD Parque Cristobal Gran Canaria
• HD Parque Cristobal Tenerife
• HD Beach Resort and Spa (in Lanzarote)
• HD Acuario Lifestyle (in Gran Canaria)
• HD Lobos Natura Fuerteventura (in Gran Canaria)
