Marriott International has announced the launch of its new careers presence on the Chinese social network, Weibo, as part of efforts to hire 30,000 people by the end of 2014.

Our Hotel Rocks marked the start of the Weibo presence, which saw mainland China hotels submit one-minute videos highlighting the benefits of working for the hospitality group.

The group is planning to more than double its presence in China to more than 100 hotels across all of its brands by the end of 2014, with the new venture designed to connect with potential employees.

Jim Pilarski, Marriott's chief human resources officer for the Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa region, said: "Providing a vehicle for job seekers to engage with us directly is important to Marriott.

"We know that talented individuals consider many employers, and Weibo and other social networks are part of our commitment to offer direct dialogue with talent who are interested in joining our family."
